Hiatus

I know it’s been a while since I’ve blogged.  A long while.

So I guess I’m officially on a hiatus.  Life is just a bit busy right now.  Work has escalated, Junior League is a bit overwhelming, and I’ve been teaching a class this semester.

The silver lining is that the end of the chaos is on the horizon.  The class will be over in May, Junior League requirements will slow down after April.

So I will be back.  At some point.  Soon.

Thanks to everyone who still regularly checks the blog.  You are very much appreciated!

Rose + Red

You are not dreaming.  My hair suddenly got shorter.

This post is a bit out of order, but I felt that rose and red combo was appropriate for this overly manufactured, hyper advertised holiday we’re having today.

On a more positive note, I’m really loving this outfit.  The dusty rose blouse paired perfectly with the red sweater….and my red nose.  Don’t let the bright sun fool you…it was cold this day.  Very cold.  So you’ll pardon the slight grimace I’ve got going on right?

Know something funny?  A couple of years ago, my casual outfit would have never looked like this.  I would have never worn a shirt with a collar and called it casual.  Isn’t it funny how personal style evolves?

Back to Back

I promise these pics were not taken the day after the ones from the previous post.  And I promise I did not wear both that sweater and that cape for two days in a row.  It just appears that way. Seriously.

So I’m wearing flats here.  That really doesn’t happen all that much.  And I honestly can’t tell you why I decided to wear flats on this particular day.  I just really don’t feel like myself in flats, especially at work.  I feel more in control and confident in my heels.  Anyone else?

Super Woman

Please forgive the quality of these pictures.  I had to take them solo, in the last few minutes of daylight after work…weeks ago.  And I forgot that my camera likes to focus on a busy background instead of me.

With that said, I really do love everything about this outfit.  All the components just seemed to come together nicely.  And almost every piece has become a favorite in my wardrobe rotation over the last month or so….the cropped pants, those booties, the cropped sweater, the shirt with the bow, and the cape.

The cape.  I really wanted a cape last year but, being a short girl, I could never find one that didn’t swallow me.  Enter this one here, from ASOS in petite.  And quite affordable.

Consider me sold.

Freaks Flock Together

Ummmm…yep.  Pics from before Italy.  Still.

Looking back on the last couple of sets of pics I’ve posted has made me miss my long hair (long for me, that is).  I really love it at this length, especially when it’s curly…actually, only when it’s curly.  Which is why it’s no longer this length.  While my hair is kind of wavy, those curls there are pretty much accomplished with my Chi.  It doesn’t really take all that long, but anything more than about 10 minutes is too much for me anymore.

But damn…those curls do look good.

A Warm Glow

Love, love, love the look of these pics.  These were taken during the very last minutes of sunlight back in October, I believe. Beside a historical church in my hometown.

I also love, love, love this color combination….the bright pink, with the tomato red, and sunny yellow came together to create a happy little ensemble.  I definitely need to recreate this look with winter essentials during these sad, drab, cold months.  Maybe that’ll make these next couple of months tolerable.  Maybe not.

Aluminium Siding

Oh…it looks so sunny and warm and bright in these pictures!  I miss those days already.  We had our first snow last night…seriously.  We almost never get snow before January.  But it happened last night.

Looking back on these shots from early fall makes me really miss all my bracelets…along with the warmer weather.  I’ve just kind of abandoned any sort of wrist adornment here lately.  I’m not quite sure how to pull off bracelets and sleeves.  It just looks weird on me.  So I’m diverting my attention to rings, though I don’t have many of those….so I guess that means I’ve got some shopping to do!

Drunken Lifesaver

Holy shit.  It’s been a while.  Since I took these pics AND since I last blogged.  I’m really trying to get better with keeping up with the blog.  I promise I am.  Things just got really crazy and busy after Italy and now it’s the holidays….and things will undoubtedly be even crazier and busier.  Sigh.

I honestly don’t even know when these pics were taken.  I DO know that there’s absolutely no way I could wear that outfit now….we had our first freeze last night.  I also know that I wore this to a random Saturday outing that consisted of drinking beer to save puppies.  It really doesn’t get much better than that.

Deep Blue Something

These pics, like the last ones, are from quite a while ago.  Some things have changed….it’s no longer bare legs and open toed shoes weather (though today was…) and my hair is quite a bit shorter now (which you’ll hopefully see soon).

Other than that…I don’t really have a lot to say about this outfit.  I picked up this dress for almost nothing on the LOFT clearance racks…which is why I was ok with the fact that it needed a few alterations.  I’m not quite sure who they were making the top of the dress for but it was definitely not me.  Maybe someone with a very very large chest?  I honestly don’t think boobs of any size would have filled that sucker out.  But with a few strategically placed nips and tucks, it fits damn near perfectly.

Like Riding a Bike

Know what?  Trying to blog again after not blogging for over a month is not like riding a bike.  You don’t just remember.  This shit is hard!  I’m fumbling around on my laptop…hell, I could barely remember where I kept my pictures!  My pictures….from September.  Yeah.  That long ago.

And I’m sad to say that the outfit I mark my return with is really not all that spectacular.  But I’m dressed and photographed so it’s getting up on the blog…especially since I haven’t really been taking many pics lately.  And I still have yet to figure out what I’m going to do for pictures in late fall/winter.  I definitely will not make it home before dark and I’m not all that thrilled about standing in the cold with my tripod.

Style blogger problems.
